BACKGROUND & HISTORY

In June of 1997, NICE CROWD CEO Jeff Friday launched its first event, the Acapulco Black Film Festival (ABFF) in partnership with Mexican Government Office of Tourism.

He conceived the festival as a venue at which members of the “Black Hollywood” community could meet, network, collaborate, and celebrate Black cinema. In 2002, the festival moved stateside to Miami Beach with support from the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau and was rebranded the American Black Film Festival.

Since its inception, the ABFF has been the standard bearer of excellence for Black creativity, having premiered the work and supported the careers of many of today’s most successful filmmakers, actors and comedians.

Today, twenty-seven years and hundreds of success stories later the Company continues to break ground in the live events industry and is developing new properties within the arts, entertainment, lifestyle and health & wellness arenas.
